This book is a collaboration of Laurie Stanley-Blackwell (author), Karen Megronigle (illustrator), and Effie Rankin (translator). Their goal is to create a Gaelic-English children’s picture book that is fun, gentle, and full of life.
When two new pets arrive at the Megronigles, everyone in Cape George is curious. No one had ever seen anything like them. The local animals decide to take turns to solve the mystery. The frog, red fox, dragon fly, eagle, field mouse, and dog learn an important lesson that day. They discover that meeting new neighbours can lead to special friendships and new understanding. Only at the end of the story is the identity of the new pets finally revealed.
With its vivid illustrations and light-hearted Gaelic translation, this story will delight young readers and young listeners alike. It will also appeal to Gaelic learners who will be able to link via a QR code to a recording of the Gaelic version of this story read by Effie Rankin.
