The Celtic Lyre was compiled by Henry Whyte who was well-known in Gaelic literacy circles as “Fionn”. Many of the songs are of his own composition as well, including the famous “Fuadach nan Gaidheal.” This collection of popular Gaelic songs was originally produced in four volumes over several years. To Gaels, many of the songs are still very familiar. To the learner, it will be an introduction to the non-bardic popular style of Gaelic verse. To all, we hope it will stir the desire to sing again these songs at both formal and informal gatherings.
