Spend a day at the forge at Highland Village and have a go at a trade that was once an everyday part of life in communities across Cape Breton.\u003cbr\u003eUnder the guidance of our resident blacksmith, Ian MacCalder, you’ll learn the basics of working with hot iron, from building and tending the coal fire, to heating the metal in the forge, and finally hammering it into shape. You’ll get to work the tools, feel the heat of the forge, and make something with your own two hands to bring home.\u003cbr\u003eWhether you’ve never stood at an anvil before or you’ve had a bit of experience at the forge, Ian will tailor the workshop to your skill level.
